After more than 55 feet of snow in the Sierra this past winter, snowshoes are required to make it to Donner Peak, high above Donner Lake. The 2 mile hike is moderate to difficult with 900' of elevation gain and some steep sections, but worth the views. Bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
