After a month long drive, 17,445 cans of tuna were donated to the 10th Annual Run On Tuna event!
The drive is held during the month of September and benefits the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN) going towards their national campaign of Feeding America, encouraging communities to end hunger.
Organizers with Run On Tuna say over 135,000 cans of tuna have been donated since 2011.
“Never did I think after the first year collecting 5,500 cans that we would be up over 135,000 just 10 years later. We are so grateful to everyone who donates and participates. We call it a “CAN-Do-Attitude,” says Michelle Sturge.
All the cans donated will be picked up by FBNN on October 5th.
