Louisiana Flooding Victims Now Struggling With Where to Live

Project Bear Hugs is inviting Reno residents to help the residents of Louisiana recover by donating needed items during their upcoming donation drive.

“For the last several years Project Bear Hugs has been delivering hugs and smiles to children and families that need them after natural disasters. We have helped affected families in Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas and are now collecting for families in Louisiana” said Project Bear Hugs founder Hannah Hoobyar.

Project Bear Hugs say they collect needed, and often forgotten, items to help children and families begin to rebuild their lives, particularly needed items include new or gently used stuffed animals, bedding, pillows and pillowcases, pet food, diapers and personal hygiene items. They also collect monetary donations to help with shipping and transportation costs to get donated items to Louisiana. Their goal is to collect 3,000 bears, 4,000 pillows and pillow cases, and $3,000 for transportation.

Project Bear Hugs says that Peterbilt has donated a truck to them to drive the donations received during these events to Louisiana.
