Chain Controls MGN

Road closures, chain and snow tire requirements and high wind travel restrictions are in place across many roads in northern Nevada and the Sierra.

I-80 is closed from the Nevada state line to Cisco Road according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. Mt. Rose Highway is closed from Mt. Rose mile marker 10 to Diamond Peak.

There is no estimated time of reopening for either closure.

Chains or snow tires are required on significant portions of I-80 and Mt. Rose Highway not covered by the closures, including I-80 through Reno and Sparks to the Mustang exit.

Chains or snow tires are also required on significant portions of U.S. 395, Geiger Grade Road, State Route 342, U.S. 50, State Route 28, State Route 267, State Route 89, and State Route 88.

Vehicles over nine feet are prohibited on I-580 and U.S. 395 Alternate through Washoe Valley due to high winds.
