The FDA announced Saturday that Sabra Dipping Company is recalling certain hummus products due to concerns over Listeria monocytogenes.
The hummus being recalled was made prior to November 18, 2016. Any of the recalled products with a "Best Before" date up through January 23, 2017 should be thrown away.
The FDA says Listeria monocytogenes was found in the facility but not tested in the finished product.
The FDA says that Listeria monocytogenes "is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."
Healthy people may suffer from short term symptoms including a high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Not all Sabra products are affected. Specifically these products are not included in this recall: Sabra Organic Hummus, Sabra Salsa, Sabra Guacamole and Sabra Greek Yogurt Dips. Read exactly which products have been recalled here.
