The Salvation Army to Hold Kettle Worker Job Fair

If you are looking for a seasonal job and perhaps a warm and fuzzy feeling to go along with it, The Salvation Army could be the place for you. They are looking to hire bell ringers for the upcoming holiday season.

“We are looking for somebody who is well kept, who presents well to the public, who has a beautiful smile and has an outgoing personality and a willingness to interact with the public,” said Major Michael Zielinski, Washoe County coordinator of the Salvation Army.

This is the third year the Salvation Army has held a job fair for seasonal workers. The working season typically runs from November 21st through December 24th.

Even though the pay is minimum wage, for a lot of bell ringers, the job means much more than just a paycheck.

“They receive an encouragement in the holiday season,” said Zielinski. “They are able to bring cheer to folks who come out as well as receive cheer back because people are so happy to see them.”

The job fair is Monday and Tuesday, November 10th and 11th as well as November 17th and 18th from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army headquarters at 1931 Sutro Street.

Applicants must be 18 years or older and should be prepared for on-the-spot interviews.
