Washoe County is spending an additional $2.7 million to create a place for homeless women, children and families to stay.

The Washoe County Human Services Agency says that 2600 people are served by the downtown Reno homeless shelter, but there are issues with overflow.

The Washoe County Board of Commissioners approved a $1.5 million contract extension between the county's Human Services Agency and Catholic Charities, for their Crossroads Program Partnership.

The center features indoor and outdoor visitation space where children, birth parents and foster parents can interact.
