Community members and local groups decorated and sponsored 20 Christmas trees for the first ever Festival of Trees auction and fundraiser.

Pershing and Humboldt Counties are the first in Nevada to use an Ebay-type of online service to auction of tax-delinquent properties. 

Bidders spent over $2 million for show-jumping horses once owned by Venezuela's former national treasurer, who is serving a decade-long U.S. prison sentence for taking part in a $1 billion bribery scheme.   

"Every project we do now goes in front of what's called the capital funding protection committee to say, for authorization of these projects," says Pete Etchart, Chief Operations Manager with the Washoe County School District, "We get that authorization and we go publicly bid."

Barrett-Jackson is dubbed as the world's greatest collector car auctions. It's in Reno this weekend, part of Hot August Nights. More than 250 cars are on site at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center this weekend.
