The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest's Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts will implement stage one fire restrictions beginning Monday, July 1.
Christmas tree permits are available for purchase at multiple Forest Service offices and can also be ordered online.
Firewood cutting permits will be available starting May 2nd on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Bridgeport and Carson Ranger Districts.
Officials with the United States Forest Service along with volunteers were out cleaning up Peavine Mountain Saturday morning, in the Carson Ranger District. On the outside the event may look like a group of people coming together to clean up trash.
The U.S. Forest Service says sheep are helping to reduce hazardous fuels near Carson City. Sheep are grazing on cheatgrass until mid-summer.
Rangers with the U.S. Forest Service in Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest say they will open dead-tree firewood cutting areas on June 16. Live-tree cutting areas will open on July 21.
