The start of the new Washoe County School year begins on August 6th, which means now's the time to go back-to-school shopping. With the recent opening of the SouthEast Connector, there's now a new route for shoppers to hop between local malls.
The Reno Police Department reports that a single vehicle crash is causing delays on the SouthEast Connector tonight. The crash is north of Pembrook on the southbound lanes.
The brand new SouthEast Connector is already popular with drivers going between Sparks and South Reno, but the 45 mile-per-hour speed limit hasn't been quite so popular.
UPDATE: RTC reports that the SouthEast Connector will be opening ahead of schedule at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Motor Vehicle
BMW is recalling more than 1.4 million cars and SUVs in two U.S. recalls due to the risk of fires under the hood.
The intersection on the south side of the SouthEast Connector is closing this weekend.
The SouthEast Connector project is going to be completed spring of 2018 and some viewers have concerns about what type of vehicles will be allowed on the much needed roadway connecting Sparks Boulevard and Veterans Parkway.
Golf
The Rosewood Lake Golf Course off Pembroke Drive in Reno found itself right in the middle of the all new SouthEast Connector and had to shut down in 2015. Once a popular spot to tee off, the course is getting a mulligan.

The Regional Transportation Commission has released the results of a soil study they conducted after the major flood event earlier this month.
