The Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off starts Wednesday, bringing 23 rib cookers from around the country, along with up to 500,000 people which requires a lot of security.

The Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off is back. Twenty-three rib cookers are set up on Victorian Avenue in Sparks, hoping to take home the first place trophy. 

The 29th Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off started Wednesday morning, featuring 22 rib cookers from around the country. 

There are a lot of ribs that go into making the Nugget Rib Cook Off happen.

From concrete barricades, fewer places to park and the number of shuttles offered, the 2016 Nugget Rib Cook-Off included some changes from previous years. 

The Best In The West Nugget Rib Cook-Off is back for it's 28th time. Just a couple of the rib cookers were in Sparks for the inaugural event and only one has been to every single cook-off since.  

Joey Chestnut, the world’s No.1-ranked competitive eater, won the first place trophy and his ninth World Rib Eating title at the 28th Annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off.

Wednesday marks the beginning of the Rib Cook-Off in Sparks. The festival goes until 9pm on Wednesday, and Monday is the last day for the cook-off. The cook-off is not only fun for the attendees but also for the cooks.
