The first Lady Melania Trump left Washington Monday afternoon for her first international solo trip, without President Trump. 

Melania Trump says she'll promote child welfare in Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt in October on her first extended solo international mission. 

Representatives from a university in Ghana are visiting the Desert Research Institute this week to discuss collaborating on how to conserve water.

The Desert Research Institute is helping save lives in Ghana through research and a new health initiative here in Northern Nevada.
