Storey County Manager Austin Osborne says that Tesla will be reducing staff "by roughly 75% in the coming days" at Nevada's Gigafactory in response to the current global pandemic.

Now through December 31st, Nevada residents can buy - and take delivery of Model S, Model X and Model 3 at the Gigafactory east of Sparks.

Panasonic is hosting another hiring event this week for people interested in working at the Gigafactory.

Today (January 4) at the Gigafactory, Tesla and Panasonic begin mass production of lithium-ion battery cells, which will be used in Tesla’s energy storage products and Model 3.

Panasonic and Nevada JobConnect are collaborating on plans to hold a job fair, focused on full-time jobs and careers in advanced manufacturing at the Gigafactory. The job fair will be held on Wednesday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.  

On Tuesday, the electric car company allowed the media to go behind closed doors at the facility.

Tesla's Gigafactory east of Sparks is coming into focus. A Tesla Spokesman says phase one of the project is complete. The factory has been producing lithium batteries since October.

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk says there is no slowdown in the construction of the Gigafactory north of Reno, despite recent reports there was a slowdown.
