Behind performances from designated hitter Mike Echavia and pitcher Jake Jackson the University of Nevada (20-13, 14-4 MW) baseball team defeated New Mexico (12-21-1, 6-12 MW) 14-1 on Sunday to complete the three-game Mountain West series sweep of the Lobos.

The University of Nevada (5-5, 2-1 MW) baseball team got an outstanding start from freshman pitcher Jake Jackson and combined that with a season-high 13 hits that produced two big innings to down New Mexico (5-5-1, 1-2 MW) 13-8 at Santa Ana Star Field today to win the Mountain West series 2-1.

In his first collegiate start, freshman Jake Jackson dominated on the mound to help lead Nevada (1-2) to an 8-1 victory over UC Irvine (2-1) on Sunday afternoon. The Wolf Pack recorded eleven hits on the day. Jackson (1-0) earned the win in his first career college start, finishing with only three hits allowed and five strikeouts through six shutout innings.
