A Florida man convicted in one of a series of suspected 1990s killings that became known as the “Hog Trail Murders” has been executed, becoming the state’s 15th person executed this year. Daniel Owen Conahan Jr. was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. Thursday after receiving a three-drug lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke. A Lebanese man held in Israel has been released, marking the first such handover since the Israel-Hezbollah conflict began six months ago. The International Committee of the Red Cross facilitated the release. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated that Israel agreed to release five Lebanese civilians after Lebanon helped search for the bodies of Lebanese Jewish leaders abducted in the 1980s. The first prisoner, Malek Ghazi, was handed over to the Lebanese army. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam thanked the U.S. for its mediation efforts. Talks between Lebanon and Israel continue, though challenges remain, especially regarding Hezbollah's disarmament.
