Authorities say a malfunctioning diesel vehicle sparked the first big Southern California wildfire of the year, forcing thousands of people from their homes.

Volvo is recalling several model lines in the U.S. because the automatic emergency braking system may not detect obstacles and stop the vehicles as designed.

Crews say a woman and a small child did not suffer any injuries after they rolled down an embankment on Saturday. 

Reno-Tahoe International Airport authorities say a C-130 military plane landed safely in Reno late Monday morning after experiencing some sort of mechanical issue. 

The Truckee Police Department says a traffic light on Highway 267 at the I-80 off-ramp in Truckee is malfunctioning. 

Kyle Brazil was changing out the batteries on his vaporizer when suddenly "it started twirling and sounded like a firework" even burning through his clothes. "And if wasn't for my pocket right here then this would have went directly to my leg," described Brazil.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says their Reno offices are back open this morning after they were forced to close yesterday due to electronic malfunctions of server batteries that emitted toxic fumes. 

Investigators say an electrical malfunction that filled a Washington subway train with smoke continued for 44 minutes before the Metro transit agency shut off power to the affected rail.
