On Thursday the Washoe County School District's Capital Funding Protection Committee approved plans to expand Swope Middle School and replace O’Brien STEM Academy with a new facility. The Board of Trustees is expected to hear those proposals on Tuesday.

The Washoe County School District says some students at O'Brien STEM Academy are sick with a gastrointestinal illness and they're also seeing influenza-like-illness (ILI).
