Running a day late because of high upper level winds, the 229-foot-tall rocket blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California early Thursday morning. 

The Desert Research Institute says a team of Nevada scientists and unmanned aircraft systems engineers have successfully flight tested the first-ever autonomous cloud seeding aircraft platform.
