Battalion Chief Robert S. Schreihans has been selected by City Manager, Nick Marano, as Carson City's new Fire Chief. A panel consisting of local fire chiefs and the City Manager recently conducted interviews for the position.

Stacey Giomi, Carson City's Fire Chief, has announced that he'll retire in early February of 2015. Chief Giomi is only the fourth paid fire chief in the City's history. He has accepted a position with Nevada Health Centers as their Director of Facilities and Emergency Preparedness.
Governor Brian Sandoval, Chairman of the Nevada Commission on Homeland Security, along with 16 voting members unanimously approved the funding allocations for Federal Fiscal Year 2014 Homeland Security Grant Program projects.
The Carson City Fire Department is presenting the Nevada Wildfire Awareness Month Kickoff, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at Mills Park. The event will promote this year’s wildfire awareness message, “Prepare Your Home For Wildfire.”
