Weather patterns are different out west. Fronts can be hard to pick out and fall apart easily too.

The weather going on throughout the world is interconnected. For example, the weather that’s going on along the east coast affects our weather in Northern Nevada.
Cutoff lows work a lot like a pinwheel, producing rain or snow in front of it, and then wrapping the moisture on the back side of it too. They can also be very hard to predict, because they are cut off from the jet stream and lose their steering. The low was situated west of central California early Saturday afternoon, but it will be closer to Las Vegas by Sunday afternoon, keeping the shower chances farther south.
