It's been a dry water year for much of the west coast. The smoky skies will stay here through at least the weekend.

The Washoe Zephyr is a type of wind that we see on a regular basis during the summer season. It can also increase our fire danger.

Kirkwood Mountain has wind gust over 200 miles per hour.

Skies will stay hazy Sunday because of blowing dust. Winds will also be strong.

It’s been a pretty mild summer so far with temperatures staying below 100 in Reno and not a lot of thunderstorm activity. With that being said fire danger is still high especially in the afternoon when our winds typically get stronger. 

The air quality is on the high end of the moderate category for the Truckee Meadows which means those who are extra sensitive should take precautions.

The Washoe County School District says due to the current unhealthy air quality, schools can decide to either cancel all outdoor practices, or move activities indoors. School recesses will be assessed on a site-by-site case.
