Wolf Pack runs away from Huskies in 2nd Half en route to 81-62 win

University of Nevada

The Nevada Wolf Pack came back from a 13 point second half deficit to top BYU 42-35.

Nevada started slow again trailing BYU 28-13 at half time but came out of the locker room looking like a different team.

It all started when Senior Quarterback Cody Fajardo scrambled around on a 3rd and 18 in the third quarter and found Tight End Jarred Gipson for a 17 yard gain. Nevada would pick up the first down a play later....

That led to Fajardo keeping the ball for his first of two rushing touchdowns in the game to bring Nevada within 8.

Nevada's Defense was next to make a play as Randy Uzoma stripped a Cougar Wide Receiver and Brock Hekking would recover for Nevada.

The offense then capitalized as Fajardo found his fellow Senior Richy Turner in the endzone for the touchdown to make it a 28-26 ball game. Fajardo would then convert the two point conversion when he would connect with Hasaan Henderson to tie the game.

When Nevada got the ball back they would convert again, as Fajardo took off and scored from 25 yards out as Nevada re-took the lead after leading 3-0 in the first quarter.

The Pack Defense would then make another play as Ian Seau would strip Cougar Quarterback Christian Stewart and Matt Lyons would come up with it. That led to James Butler's second touchdown of the game as Nevada led 42-28.

However BYU would make a late comeback,  Stewart would hit Keanu Nelson for a Touchdown late in the 4th. Then BYU got the ball back with less than 90 seconds remaining and push their way into Nevada territory.

On a 1st and 5 with 49 seconds remaining Stewart would take off up the field when True Freshman Patrick Chouda would swat the ball out of his hand and Jonathan McNeal would recover the fumble and seal the comeback win for Nevada.

The victory improves Nevada to 4-3 on the season, as they return to Mountain West Play next week when they travel to Hawaii to take on the Warriors.
