It was a busy morning for Cory Bettinghouse. He owns Cory's Lawn Service and he was expecting to be prepping dozens of lawns for spring. But being a flexible businessman, he recognizes an opportunity when he sees it and that's how he saw our overnight snowfall.Â
"Well we were planning on aerating lawns and thatching and turning in sprinklers," he said. "And this is different but it's all good,"
His company concentrates on Somersett in Northwest Reno. And it's like unleashing a band of elves when they arrive on scene. They use shovels and snow blowers and are able to do three and four driveways and sidewalks at a time.Â
"Normally we get 2 or 3 inches of snow but when people see 5 or 6 inches overnight they are calling asking us to get here as soon as we can...so we were on it," he says.
And at $35 a house and an expectation to get to at least 50 in the day, the unexpected snowfall is also an unexpected windfall for Cory and his crews.Â
