South Lake Tahoe Police say they arrested a 53-year-old woman after she allegedly licked items inside a Safeway store on Tuesday.
When officers arrived at the store, they say an employee told them Jennifer Walker had licked numerous pieces of jewelry and then loaded a shopping cart full of store merchandise.
Police say the employee told authorities that all the items Walker licked were deemed unsellable due to cross contamination.
Police found Walker inside the store and arrested her. She was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on a felony vandalism charge.
An investigation revealed that the South Lake Tahoe woman had no money to buy the items.
Police say they approximated the value of the damaged merchandise at $1,800.
