South Lake Tahoe police are asking for help finding a man who disappeared from a paddleboard on Lake Tahoe this week.
Police say a boater found the abandoned paddleboard equipped with a GoPro camera, a selfie stick and life jacket about one mile from Timber Cover Marina around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
They say a South Tahoe standup paddle business says the board was rented for an hour at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday by a man with a thick accent who wrote his name as only "Moryn" - though police say it was barely legible. He paid cash and did not leave an ID.
Police also say they found photos of the missing man with another unidentified man. One was taken by a Heavenly photographer and the others were also on the GoPro camera.
They're also looking for anyone who might knew who he is.
"On his GoPro he's got photographs from the last six months, and they are from other countries. So the possibility exists that he may be a visitor here,” says Lt. Brian Williams of South Lake Tahoe Police.
On Thursday morning crews searched the area where the paddleboard was found- and found a paddle they believe went with it- but then had to suspend the search due to wind.
