Food Bank to Hold Holiday Food Drive Kick-Off Event

From the City of Sparks:

Beginning Wednesday, December 2 through Friday, December 11, residents throughout Sparks and the Truckee Meadows can participate in the City’s 11th annual “Can the Mayor” food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada by donating canned goods and other non-perishable food items for those who are less fortunate this holiday season.

In addition, the City is supporting Toys for Tots. The toy drive ends Wednesday, December 16. Residents can bring unwrapped Toys to help underprivileged children in the community have a brighter Christmas and Holiday Season.  Items can be dropped off Monday through Friday inside the main entrance at Sparks City Hall (431 Prater Way) during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

“In the spirit of giving, the City of Sparks has partnered with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Toys for Tots to help those who are in need this holiday season,” said Mayor Geno Martini.  “This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to make a difference in the lives of so many of our residents’ right here at home,” he said.  “Every family deserves food this holiday season, and every little kid deserves a toy.”
