From the City of Sparks:Â
More than a thousand people and 85 entries packed into the staging areas off Pyramid and Victorian to line themselves up for the annual Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade. The event on Saturday December 3, in downtown Sparks was attended by an estimated crowd of 13,000.
During the parade, each parade entrant was judged for theme, originality, personality and presentation. The judging categories are: Best Over-all, Business, Vehicle Group, Animals Group, Community Group, Costumed Group, Marching Band, and Float.
Our Judges are representatives of local non-profit agencies:

2016 Winners:
Vehicles: Vietnam Veterans of America
Community: Kiwanis Club of Downtown Sparks
Marching Band: Carson Middle School Marching Band
Business: Chase International Real Estate
Animal: Perez Dancing Horses
Float: Sparks Heritage Museum
Costume group: Jenny’s School of Dance
Best Overall: Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada
Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada won overall with the most points. They will have the opportunity to lead the parade in 2017.
Each of the winners will be recognized at a January City Council meeting.
