The Sparks Police department is investigating a hit and run crash on Vista Boulevard at Los Altos Parkway.
At approximately at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Sparks police began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls from a male caller. Officers say the caller was being uncooperative and would not give needed information.
Several calls later there was report of a hit and run crash at Vista Blvd. and Los Altos Parkway, near Pah Rah Park.
When officers arrived Doug Nataluk, 47 described the incident. Nataluk says while he was driving north bound on Vista Blvd at Los Altos Parkway he saw a vehicle approaching from behind at a very high rate of speed. The Honda struck Nataluk's Toyota truck, from behind and continued northbound on Vista.
The driver drove across southbound lanes on Vista and stopped on the sidewalk. William Thayer, 22 fled from the vehicle.
Thayer was taken into custody for leaving the scene of a crash and officers have reason to believe that Thayer was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Thayer was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure. He will be booked on DUI charges and leaving the scene of the crash.
It is believed that a third vehicle, a red Ford Ranger pick-up, may also have been struck at the intersection of Vista Blvd. and Los Altos Parkway.
Anyone with information regarding that vehicle is asked to contact the Sparks Police traffic unit at 353-2432.
