The SPCA of Northern Nevada says it rescued 50 more cats this week from Winnemucca in an ‘extreme' case of cat hoarding, affecting 120 total cats.
Late last month, SPCA representatives say they found 60 cats living inside the home while many more cats and kittens were found living in outside cages without much protection from the elements. This week's rescue was the second to last phase of the rescue operation.
Ray of Hope Animal Rescue is temporarily caring for 26 cats as they continue to make space for the animals.
The SPCA says the cost associated with rescuing the animals continue to increase, so the organization is asking for you to help them cover medical, food and travel expenses. To date, it has cost $34,848 to care for the cats.
If you want to help, or to donate some of the animals, call the SPCA at 324-7773.
