Nevada women's volleyball faced a tough challenge against CSU Bakersfield on September 7, 2024, at the Icardo Center, ultimately falling in four sets.
Despite the loss, the Wolf Pack showed flashes of strong play, with multiple athletes contributing to the team’s effort in this competitive preseason match.Â
Sophomore outside hitter Bella Snyder led the Wolf Pack’s offense, recording 13 kills with a hitting percentage of .200. Setter Tehya Maeva tallied 36 assists, facilitating Nevada’s offense throughout the match. Gabby McLaughlin added 12, as well as Koen Makaula with eight. However, Nevada's offense struggled with consistency.Â
Defensively, libero Kinsley Singleton anchored the back row, collecting 20 digs. Maeva added 10 digs to her stat lin. Despite their efforts, the Wolf Pack couldn’t contain CSU Bakersfield’s offensive surge.Â
A key moment came in the third set when Nevada battled through several long rallies but couldn’t close the gap as Bakersfield pulled ahead to take the set 27-25.
The Wolf Pack's blocking game, led by Snyder, tallied 5 total team blocks, but Bakersfield’s offense remained strong with 16 team blocks disrupting Nevada’s rhythm.Â
Looking ahead, Nevada aims to bounce back as they prepare for their next preseason tournament at the Riverside Classic.
The Wolf Pack will face off against California Baptist, CSUN, and host team UC Riverside, eager to build on their experience and strengthen their performance.Â
