Garrett Mitchell hit a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-4 comeback win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. The victory sends the Brewers to their first World Series since 1982. David Hamilton added a solo shot in the ninth. Shohei Ohtani's early home run helped put the Dodgers ahead 4-0, but the Brewers rallied to complete a four-game sweep of the two-time defending World Series champions. Milwaukee's bullpen shut down multiple late threats. The Brewers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in their only other World Series appearance when Milwaukee played in the American League.
Jake Bauers went home to Southern California and walked away with an MVP trophy. Bauers hit a two-run double in the fourth inning Thursday to begin Milwaukee’s comeback, and the Brewers rallied for a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers that finished a four-game sweep in the National League Championship Series. The first baseman also drew a walk that forced home the tying run in the fifth to help Milwaukee advance to the World Series for the first time in 44 years. Bauers, who went to high school about 40 miles south of Dodger Stadium, was selected the NLCS MVP after batting .286 with a home run and six RBIs in the series.
