Students Suspended After Prank at Lowry High School in Winnemucca

Humboldt County School District Superintendent Dr. Dave Jensen says several students were suspended after a senior prank went wrong inside Lowry High School.

Dr. Jensen says the students entered the school on Monday night and duct taped doors, spray painted lockers and made a mess inside a classroom.

Dr. Jensen says 30+ students were involved, and many of them were videotaped on security cameras. Of the 30+ students, some were suspended, while a few others were given citations.

The Winnemucca school was cleaned up by 9 a.m. Tuesday in time for classes. Damage is estimated under $1,000.

Dr. Jensen says one of the students got a key from a family member, while another previously worked as an employee for the school and had kept a key.

Dr. Jensen tells us that their priority is to make sure the students learned from their actions and respect and understand that there are consequences.Â
