The Susanville Police Department says one of its officers died on Wednesday while hospitalized in Reno. Officer Ryan Barham was just 43 years old.Â
Officer Barham started his law enforcement career in July 1998 with the Yreka Police Department. Then, he moved to Lassen County where he served as a Lassen County Deputy Sheriff in May 2001 and then went to the Susanville Police Department in January 2019, where he worked as a field training officer and senior explorer advisor.
"Officer Barham is a beloved member of our police force," Susanville Police Department said in a statement announcing Barham's death. "He is well respected, hardworking, skilled, dedicated, and took pride in serving our community. He will be greatly missed as an officer and friend."
The police department says "as additional information becomes available, further press releases shall be issued."
