A local technology and service company is continuing to grow here in Reno. Clear Capital, who supports the real estate market by helping its customers make good decisions about large collateral risks, has grown into a 500 person company nationwide. One fifth of those jobs are tech related.
Sarah Lambert, Clear Capital's Vice President of Human Resources, says the company plans to add at least 50 new jobs in the Reno market by the end of the year. Saying they continue to find success in the Biggest Little City because of Reno’s economic growth and local talent pool.
“We can just support the technology hub that Reno is becoming, we draw a lot of talent to this market with Clear Capital, and we also are able to partner with a tier 1 university like UNR to draw engineering and data sciences students,” said Lambert.
Lambert says Clear Capital works with the university to help mentor and train current students who have an interest in the tech field. Saying that if we can keep our local job seekers in northern Nevada, we will not just generate further growth, but we'll create higher paying jobs as well.
And that's exactly what Mike Kazmierski over at EDAWN is pushing for. He says the more tech savvy our students and workforce become, the more Reno becomes a place where entrepreneurs will choose to kick start or relocate their business.
“In fact we have a very aggressive effort in the bay area right now to bring in startups and smaller companies,” said Kazmierski. “We can get them to move when they're small and then they grow their headquarters here and become part of our tech workforce."
