Things 2 Do!

It should be a great weekend for the National Championship Air Races. But there is a lot more to do than that this weekend.  From fundraisers to book sales to a celebration of locally grown food in the Fallon area, there are tons of events and happenings. The Iron Nation Motorcycle Club will hold it's Never Forget Run on Saturday, Piper's Opera House in Virginia City will be the scene of a futuristic Victorian Steampunk Ball Saturday night, and the Reno Phil will hold its season opener.  Enjoy!

Firefighters Boot Drive 

Local firefighters will be at the corner of McCarran and South Virginia Street from 8 until 5 Friday and Saturday filling the boot to help fund the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Chamber's 30th Annual Leadership Gala

The Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Leadership Gala tonight and this year they will be honoring Washoe Sheriff Mike Haley.  It's at the Wilbur May Museum in Rancho San Rafael Park tonight starting at 6 pm.

Friends of the Washoe County Library Book Sale 

The Friends of the Washoe County Library are at it again with their annual book sale. It is this weekend at the Reno Town Mall from 10-5. There will be a special section on Cookbooks…but there will be lots of other books as well. Proceeds go to the Washoe County Library.

Iron Nation Never Forget

The Iron Nation Motorcycle Club will be holding its annual motorcycle between Reno and Sparks at noon today.  They bring awareness to those who have lost their lives protecting this country. And last year they raised $19-thousand for the Nevada Military Support Alliance. Meet at Cottonwood Park in Sparks at 11:00. The run is at noon.

Tractors and Truffles in Fallon 

It's a day to help promote local agriculture. Starting at 10:30 you can take tours of the local farms, get growing tips, see cooking demonstrations and go to a dinner enjoying it all in Fallon.  The dinner starts at 5:30 and includes live local music. Meet at Lattin Farms.

Mayberry Athletic Club Fundraiser for Children with Cancer

The Mayberry Athletic Club wants to help kids with cancer so this weekend they are hosting an athletic competition at their club with all of the proceeds going to benefit the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation. Check in is at 8 a.m. The competition starts at 9.

Vesta-Ful Event and fundraiser on Vesta Street  9-6

The Merchants of Vesta Street in Reno are holding a festival all day on Sunday. And since they are on Vesta Street they are calling it a Vesta-ful. It runs from 9 until 6. It's also a fundraiser for the Rain shadow charter high school.
