William Curry is a three-time war veteran, he served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He says he looks at his time serving with pride, because he knows he did his best.
Curry is 98 years old and served in three different wars. At age 18 or 19, he was already serving the country, like his dad did during WWI, but he says his experience was vastly different than many he served with because being a black man during those times, wasn't easy, even as a veteran.
“People of color weren't treated properly at the time,” says Curry.
Despite the odds, he graduated as a special Ed teacher, and worked, once again serving, for 27 more years. Although keeping the body moving helps he says the key to longevity is simple.
“The most important things in life is to be able to help people help people to get better. you know, that's the key,” he says.
Curry exercises seven days a week, does physical therapy and says reading is his favorite hobby.
Although he served in many wars, his daughter, is what he is most proud of in his life.
