We may see some snow in the Sierra this weekend - so is your car ready for the winter weather? A little maintenance now, can keep you from getting stuck out in the cold.
"And this battery actually tested bad, so we are going to print that out and show the customer, the percent of health of the battery,” says mechanic Justin Graves.
At Biggest Little City Auto and Truck Repair, they are busy this time of year getting cars ready for winter driving.
"Obviously preventative maintenance is the key with anything automotive. If you think of it bring it in before it happens. It's always less expensive to catch it before a catastrophe happens."
Richard Blasey goes on to say to start with the battery, make sure it's holding a good charge, and check all your fluids - including the antifreeze. Make sure your heater and defroster works. And get those wiper blades swapped out, and make sure all your lights are working. Tires are probably the most important thing - make sure you have winter or all season tires with plenty of tread, and always carry chains.
Here's another helpful tip, if your car does need chains - your best bet - do a little practice session in the driveway. Make sure everything hooks up ok, and you know how to install them, that way you won't be stuck on the side of the road during a snow storm, trying to figure them out.
"Slow down! Is the number one thing that everyone knows, slow down whenever you get any kind of weather, be cautious to the things around you."
Blasey says if you take care of your car, it will take care of you.
