On Wednesday President Trump announced that Reno-Stead Airport is getting $4.8 million in grants to help improve the taxiway and aircraft apron reconstruction.
On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao announced more than $273 million in infrastructure grants for American’s airports, including $4.8 million for Nevada.
“This $273 million federal investment in our nation’s airports will strengthen safety, improve travel, generate jobs, and benefit local communities,” said Secretary Chao.
The funds announced are in addition to the $10 billion in grants awarded to airports to help them stay afloat during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has also allowed funds for airports in Carson City, Jackpot, Wells and Minden.
The grants will be used for a variety of critical infrastructure and safety projects nationwide. The projects include purchasing aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment, constructing runways and taxiways, repairing runways and taxiways, installing aircraft lighting and signage, conducting airport master plan studies and installing airport perimeter fencing.
