Winter Storm Prompts Area Closures, Including Schools. See List Here

The winter storm coming to northern Nevada and the Sierra is expected to be a large one. 

As a result, some places, including schools around the area, are planning to close in preparation. 

The University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe non-essential operations and in-person classes are suspended for Thursday, February 29 and Friday, March 1.

Heavenly Ski Resort is planning to close the gondola and the top of gondola lifts and facilities on Thursday and Friday.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort plans to close backside chairs two, three and four on Thursday.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort will be closing all of their operations on Friday.

Sugar Bowl Resort has postponed their event, the Sugar Bowl Uphiller, to Saturday, April 13.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners special meeting scheduled for Friday, March 1 has been postponed. The new date and time has not yet been announced.

"John Summit Presents: Experts Only," an event at the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline, was rescheduled from March 2 to February 22, 2025.
