Mellow Fellow Gastropub, right across the street from Greater Nevada Field, is usually pretty busy this time of year.
"It's packed usually," said lead bartender Brendan Dowling. "We're rolling with baseball, we have soccer going, it's usually much busier. Now, it's crazy. Every time I look out there it's like where the heck is everybody?"
But they're keeping the doors open for curbside, takeout and delivery these days.
"We wanted to keep everybody working and really keep our name out there," said Ryan Eller, Mellow Fellow founder. "At the end of the day, we could have closed and just kind of written off the month, but I think it's important to keep your business fresh, to keep ideas coming in, and to keep your staff happy."
And for service industry worker and first responders, the entire menu is half off right now.
"The first order we had was from Reno Fire Station 10 up near the Bonanza Casino," Eller said. "I ended up driving up there to deliver it and the station Chief said, hey, is this actually a good thing for you? I don't want to share this if you're discounting it too much; we don't want people to take advantage of it. And I said no, that's what it's there for. At the end of the day it's for you guys, so I think he shared it with some of the other stations in town. We've seen great support from the hospital staff and from other fire stations as well."
This is a place known for their craft beer selection, and they continue to work with local breweries
"We've done a release from Revision, we're working with Imbib, we're talking with some of these other guys," Eller said. "Whatever we can get, whatever they need to sell, we're trying to make those available to the public."
And they've started a new weekly to-go program for craft beer fans.
"Every week we're doing a pre-order for cans and fresh beer," Eller said. "People put in their order by Thursday, pick it up on Friday, so we're trying to keep the beer moving and keep the food moving to the best of our ability."
