Pinwheels Planted for National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and The Children’s Cabinet is marking the occasion with its annual Pinwheels for Prevention event.

The event brings the community together to plant pinwheels, a symbol of childhood innocence, and is an opportunity for locals to learn about available services and vital resources to prevent child abuse.

It’s happening Thursday, April 2, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Neil Road Recreation Center, 3925 Neil Rd. in Reno. The program will start with Bikers Against Child Abuse reading their pledge to protect children. Then, at 3 p.m., children in attendance will plant pinwheels as a show of support for child abuse prevention.

If you’d like to show your support online, April 3rd is ‘Go Blue Day’ where Prevent Child Abuse Nevada encourages everyone to wear blue in support of child abuse prevention. You’re encouraged to post a photo of yourself wearing blue and tag @thechildrenscabinet to raise awareness.
