The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is clearing up some concerns over its new zero-tolerance policy for crime investigations at schools.

Earlier this week, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and School District announced the policy which would include conducting investigations to the fullest extent on threats, fights, unlawful assembly's and more.

The Sheriff's Office says investigations will be done within the parameters of the constitution.

Self-defense in certain cases would also be considered.

As for unlawful assemblies, the Sheriff's Office clarifies that they are not targeting kids hanging out but rather assemblies that are disturbing the peace.

The Sheriff's Office also adds that the school district is on board and has their own discipline process as well.

The Lyon County School District has announced it's adopting a no-tolerance policy in response to threats.

The district says from now on, sheriff's deputies will investigate any threats or incidents of violence or weapons at schools and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

They will not tolerate any fights, assault or battery, riots, weapon possession or threats.

They say student will be criminally liable and will also be disciplined by the school district.
