A jury has convicted a man on a charge of home invasion and residential burglary after he broke into a woman’s home in Lemmon Valley while she was in the shower.
The woman told officers that she was in the shower when she heard glass breaking. When she looked outside of her bedroom door, she saw Dean Carter in her kitchen carrying items out of the house.
When Reno Police officers arrived, they found a broken window and several items missing.
A neighbor’s video surveillance camera captured Carter arriving on a distinct moped behind the victim’s home.
The following day, officers found Carter driving the same moped in downtown Reno. During the traffic stop, officers noticed that Carter was wearing the same hat that had been stolen from the victims’ home the day before. He was also wearing her necklace, shoes, and a belt.
Sentencing is set for May 6th, he faces up to 8 to 20 years in prison.
