You may be seeing a new trailer around town selling beer, it's called Reno-Tahoe Crombacher Brewery USA.
Not only do they sell beer, they are also trying to help the community one sip at a time.
Founder Tim Trefts says 100% of the proceeds go to nonprofits.
So if you didn't have an excuse to drink beer before now you do. So here's how it works...
"As a customer when you get your beer you put your chip into the jar that represents which nonprofit you want the proceeds to go to. So at the end of the quarter we partner with these non-profits and breweries for three months at a time. So then we see how much money... or chips are in each jar so if you have 30% of the chips you get 30% of the profits," says Trefts.
He says their businesses model is about being a place where people come to learn about Reno-Tahoe's craft beer scene, all while giving back to others.
"We are doing something that makes it easier for them to make the money. Instead of having to go out and do a golf tournament and get all of these donations which is not easy to do. We are able to do it in a fun way which everyone is drinking beer. So if you are already going to drink a beer, why not let your profits go to local organizations," says Trefts.
Dress for Success Reno is one of the nonprofits they are partnering with. We spoke with them to find out how these proceeds will help their cause.
Patti Weiske the Founder and CEO of Dress for Success Reno says, "We would not have been able to serve over 200 women in only a year in a half, if it wasn't for the community."
Weiske says her nonprofit supplies clothes to women in the workforce, whether they are applying for a new job or already have one.
Crombacher Brewery USA is donating to their cause for the next three months.
"Being able to give back to the community but also working and doing something that I like was a match made... that I really wanted to go for," says Trefts.
Weiske says all of their clothes are donated, but they don't always have every size. So they will use the proceeds from Crombacher to go out and buy what they need.
"For them to do this as they start out and to partner with Dress for Success, because we are also a start up. This is our second year in operation in Northern Nevada and this will tremendously help us and take us to the next level to help women in Northern Nevada," says Weiske.
You can help by simply buying a beer and picking a non-profit.
Weiske says, "Northern Nevada is just a different animal when it comes to giving and being involved as volunteers. Northern Nevada has been so supportive of Dress for Success, and Crombacher Brewery has been an example of that."
