On Thursday, Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill from the Washoe County School District made a statement regarding a rumor about students not advancing due to COVID-19 and school closures.
"I have been made aware of a report circulating on social media regarding the possibility that our students will not move to the next grade level in the coming school year, but will remain in their current grade for another year due to the COVID-19 outbreak."
This is false. Our educational team is working hard via distance learning to reinforce our students’ knowledge and skills and prepare them for the next grade level they are ready to advance in the fall.
Once again, reports that all students will be forced to remain at their current grade level and repeat the school year beginning in August are absolutely false."
