Burning Man has faced storms over the last few days, forcing gate closures and long waits to get in, but with that weather in the rear view, burners remain excited to be a part of the fun and fashion of the event.
Burning Man fashion is truly a universe of its own, a mix of radical self-expression, survival gear, and avant-garde design.
Designers and creators from all over the world bring pieces that blur the lines between fashion, art, and function.
The desert digs and range of styles vary and embody personal identity.
From couture to bohemian bride looks, mystical themes, elaborate light up costumes, to animal prints, people mix and match practical and radical. Â
Michael Simonson, a fashion designer and artist, shared his inspiration for style.
"There's a lot of amazing art out there," he said. "You know, I find that people give a lot of their creativity to the event, and I can get inspired as an artist to see new consolations, the new creations out there, take that back and create with those ideas in mind."
While the grounds have dried up out in the desert for Burning Man, the vibe keeps on jamming and fashion apparel sales are strong and steady, for all the burners heading into the final weekend.
Sugar Kayne, a collaborative artist, says she works alongside a well-known designer from New Mexico.
"Raquel Lopez, she has a company called Venus in Velvet, and she makes all of this beautiful couture and this lovely hat, and ummm, she is one of the most prolific fashion designers I've ever met," said Kayne. "So, I've come to work with her."
Lopez has styled burners for nearly two decades and continues making her custom, creative designs for people across the country. Â
With a mixed variety of fashion, from jewelry, clothing, fur coats, vests, and shrugs, along with goggles and dust masks for whiteouts, to utility belts, holsters, and hydration packs, you name it, anything goes.
The costuming and wardrobe are all uniquely made and some are hand crafted.
Simonson adds, "people come on this road and they shop any time of the night, of the day. We make sales at 5 a.m., we make sales at any time of the day and night."
The Burning Man adventure is one of a kind and draws in people from all across the country to enjoy an off the grid experience, with a little something for everyone.
