Nevada Health Link wants to remind people that open enrollment is right around the corner.

The organization helps people who don't have health insurance through their employer find the right coverage.

They tell us a person needs to be a current Nevada resident in order to enroll, and the plans that are offered are income-based.

Janel Davis, the Executive Officer of Nevada Health Link, says, "We give the consumer the opportunity to come on to nevadahealthlink.com. They can search. We have, I think, eight insurance carriers, qualified health plan insurance carriers offering on the exchange. They're also in the private market as well, and then we have, I want to say, four dental carriers."

They know navigating health insurance plans can be confusing, so they want to be a resource people can turn to for guidance.

Davis said, "This is free assistance for Nevada consumers who are seeking coverage to get that enrollment assistance, because insurance can be confusing, so we definitely want to let people know that you don't have to do this alone."

Changes to insurance plans are common, and they encourage those who are on auto renewal to look through their benefits during open enrollment to be aware of what's coming.

“We really recommend and encourage folks to find a broker or navigator near them. Call them, make an appointment, and then also, if you're an existing enrollee with Nevada Health Link, things may have changed, right? Your income could have increased or decreased. Maybe you moved to a different zip code, and that will affect your plan,” Davis said.

They’re saying having health insurance now can help you stay healthy in the future.

Davis told us, "Insurance is designed to protect you and your family. If a medical emergency were to occur, and so I think, you know, everyone talks about the costs rising, and although that's true, I think if you go without health coverage or health insurance, and something happens, it's going to be more expensive in the long run.”

Open enrollment starts November 1st and will go through January 15th, 2027.
