Multiple Nevada law enforcement agencies will be swearing in a new honorary deputy on Monday.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, and Mineral County Sheriff's Office have confirmed on their Facebook pages that Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel will be sworn in on June 23.
He is 13 years old, according to the U.S. Secret Service website, and has been battling cancer since 2018.
Daniel has dreamed of becoming a police officer, with a goal of setting a Guinness World Record for being sworn in by the most agencies in the U.S
So far, he has been sworn in by 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country, surpassing his goal.
Carson City Sheriff Furlong, Mineral County Sheriff Bill Ferguson, and Lyon County Sheriff Brad Pope will each swear in Daniel.
In March of this year, he was sworn in as an honorary U.S. Secret Service Agent by President Trump.
The honorary swearing-in will take place during the Opening Session of the National Sheriff’s and Chiefs’ Annual Conference.
