Sparks police responds to a bomb threat at a CVS

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office arrested a student after receiving a report from the administrators at Yerington High School about a threat to the school.

Before the arrest was made, school officials say multiple students reported hearing another student expressing intentions to “shoot up the school.” Deputies say these statements caused concern among both students and staff, prompting them to notify law enforcement.

According to the Sheriff's Department, they responded quickly to the student's residence in Yerington and made contact.

Eventually, while being questioned by deputies, the student initially denied the accusations made by others.

The Department says that based on the findings, it was found that the student had made threats directed toward students, staff, and the school, which caused fear and disruption.

According to authorities, the student was transported to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, where custody was then transferred to Juvenile Probation.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing, and due to the fact, the student is a juvenile, their name will not be released.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says there is no current active threat.
