If you're not sure what to do with your kids before and after school now that the year has started, we caught up with a few low-cost options in our community today.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows serves more than 2,000 kids a day. They offer meals, homework help and transportation from about 40 area schools.
For the other schools, the City of Reno has a subsidized program that is similar, but operates on site at the schools instead of at a separate facility.
Both say they try to make it fun for the kids.
"We try not to be school after school. They've already been in school for long enough, so get your homework done, and then let's go and have some fun,” says Rick Stevens of Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows.
Fees for the programs average around $25 to $50 per week. But, both programs do offer financial aid.
They say to just ask your school which program it partners with.
